Grumpy the Gator

In Grumpy the Gator, a group of children playing encounter a grumpy alligator. The story teaches children to always keep a safe distance from animals in the wild, and to find an adult if they see an alligator.

Grumpy the Gator

Its Always A Story With The Hendersons

Rain, Rain….Yes, that’s Rain!!!

Temperatures in coastal South Carolina have reached above 100 degrees for many days. The grass is brown and crunchy. Edges of the palm trees are brown and dry. The pond water across the street is much lower than usual. The alligator has moved from a regular sunning position on the pond bank to a cooler shady area.

Neighbors walk their dogs early in the morning or late in the evening. No sounds of children playing basketball. No sounds of neighbors sharing conversation in the middle of the day. All is quiet.

We pray for rain. We check the forecast every morning. We pray for other areas of the country where too much rain has caused flooding and disasters. If only we could have some of their rain and they could have some of our dry weather.

Then, it happened.

This evening, I heard a distant rumbling. Wondering if a delivery truck was close by, I walked to the window and looked at the sky. No delivery truck.

Yes, the sound I heard was thunder. Would rain come next? I imagined the blades of grass trying to stand taller to reach for any moisture that might fall from the sky. I pictured birds with their beaks open wide hoping to catch a drop or two.

Within a few minutes, the first drops hit the roof. Pitter patter, drop drop, plop plop as the raindrops fell harder.

Alan and I were so excited. We walked to garage, opened the door and stood to watch the amazing sight. Rain, rain, rain. From downpour to gentle rain, our prayers were answered.

More rain is needed but we are thankful for the rain God provided today.

Best of all, as we stood and watched the rain lighten, we noticed a gift. A beautiful rainbow. God’s promise. God’s covenant. Amazing.

Have a blessed day,

It’s been a mixture of sun and showers here. Some days hot and some cooler. Just don’t know how to dress some days.
Today, should stay nice and sunny, with a possibility of a bit of rain.

After stifling heat and humidity, we’ve got some cooler and less humid air, but rain is coming at the end of the week. It’s always a blessing to see a rainbow. 🙂

Isn’t it amazing how God always seems to be our “Just in time God”? The same thing happened here late last week. After a deluge of rain (3.3 inches) on Wednesday, God allowed the sun to shine brightly upon us long enough to get my hay cut, dried, baled, and stored away safely. Less than an hour later, the rains returned. All I could do was just like you and Mr. Alan; say “Thank You Lord, praise Your holy name.”

Yes J.D. God is amazing. His plan is always best. Today is warm and sunny again. The lizards are running here and there. The birds are singing again. We are thanking God for His blessings. Have a blessed day! 🙂

We’ve had sunshine the past several days. Our high today is supposed to be 73. Rain is expected later in the week. Your story reminded me of when I was a little girl and live in southern, CA. My dad would open the garage door and we’d sit and watch the lightening and rain. 🙂

All we’ve had this spring is rain. Last week, even more tornadoes ripped through very close by. Still, Texas has never looked so green! But in past years, we lived through drought. Lakes providing water to our counties dropped to an alarming level. But it all cycles around in time. (Another good example of having to patiently wait!) Prayers for you to get some of our rain! Blessings and hugs, dear Mimi. ❤️

We live in Michigan and have had plenty of rain. We’re so excited to finally have sunshine the past two days. Today, the temperatures won’t even make it to 70, but the sunshine helps tremendously. Yesterday I wore capris, sandals, and a short-sleeved top. Today, jeans, closed shoes, and a long-sleeved teeshirt. (sigh) Longing for summer…

The sunshine does help with temperatures. As morning has turned into afternoon here in the low country of SC, temps have risen again. Bright sunshine and no rain today. 🙂 Have a blessed day!

I know people in my area are wanting rain. I live in central North Carolina. But I’m thrilled to have the warm/hot sunny days. Groundwater came in my basement with Hurricane Florence, and it stayed literally for months. My basement has been dry for over three weeks now. We can finally start putting things back in the basement. 🙂

I love the rain. But I’m not so crazy about storms. We live in Va., and we have had some wicked storms lately. They have included tornadoes. Lots of tress down. Thankfully, they have not hit us thus far. But as for a pitter patter and drizzly day, those are the best with a cup of tea and good book. 🙂

Such goodness of God to send the rain! Here in East Tennessee, the temps are in the 80’s, which cooled off a bit from 90’s which are not usually the norm in May! But our lack of rain for several weeks has also turned parts of our lawn a little brown. Then, last night it rained, and in looking at the extended forecast there’s expected thunderstorms and rain for the next 8 days.
