Grumpy the Gator

In Grumpy the Gator, a group of children playing encounter a grumpy alligator. The story teaches children to always keep a safe distance from animals in the wild, and to find an adult if they see an alligator.

Its Always A Story With The Hendersons

Two different earrings…fashion statement or silly mistake?

Preparing for the day involves certain routines such as washing, dressing, eating breakfast and morning devotional readings. Last Sunday morning, I was pleased to have taken care of the normal activities and was ready for church. Glancing in the mirror and making sure no tags were sticking out of my red sweater, I was ready. Alan and I decided it was time to leave the house. Dressed in dark blue pants, nice white button up shirt and his dress shoes, my husband was looking very handsome.

“Do I look okay?” I asked. Alan always answers with the same response. I never really know if he’s looking at me or not. πŸ™‚

“You look as pretty as the day I met you.” He smiles. I blush. We’ve been married for 40 years on March 3, 2019.

The day was full of wonderful worship service, delicious lunch, visit with friends and family and as we prepared for evening, our hearts were full of love.

Time to prepare for sleep. Another normal routine. Wash face, change into pajamas, say prayers, kiss goodnight.

As I placed soap on the washcloth and began to wash my face, I noticed something odd. The whole day had passed and I never noticed I was wearing two different earrings. Yes, they were similar in size and shape. One is white and one is silver. Easy to make a mistake while putting on my earrings early in the morning, or at least that is what I told myself.

Then, I began reviewing the day. Had anyone else noticed my two different earrings? Having such short hair makes earrings easily seen. Did this mean Alan didn’t notice my ears? Β Questions began running through my mind.

Did everyone notice? Did they think I was making a “fashion statement” or possibly noticed and didn’t want me to feel bad by drawing attention to my mistake.

Whatever the reason, I laughed and showed my sweet little earrings to my loving husband. His response, “Oh, I didn’t even notice.”

We both laughed and decided a brighter light might be necessary when time comes for me to “decorate” my ears.

This whole situation reminded me of how God looks at our inner beauty and does not look at outer beauty. We are created by Him and therefore, we are all beautiful.

If you wear earrings, check to see if they match. If they don’t match, no worries. “You are as pretty as the day He created you.”

Blessings,
Mimi

I’m sure if anyone noticed they didn’t think anything of it. It seems we can do anything fashion wise these days.
I don’t wear earrings, but I have worn mismatched socks, and my top inside out a few times. The worst though was when I walked around most of the day with the tag still on something new–those size stickers can be difficult to see. LOL
Thanks for the reminder it’s what’s on the inside that matters.

LOL, with today’s styles, anyone who did happen to notice, probably did not think a thing about it! Here is my earring story: I had taken one my earrings off to talk on my phone more comfortably and failed to put it back on once I had finished. I went the entire rest of the day with only one hoop shaped earring in my ear.

Melissa, I have done the same thing, only my earrings were very different. When my children were in elemenatry school, I was getting dressed and deciding between two different looks. The phone rang. When my call ended I rushed out the door. I talked with school principal, a teacher, ran errands, and passed by a mirror. I laughed and laughed. One ear had a small ball, the other large colorful dangle! No one had said a word!

Such an easy mistake to make, and yet it can make you self-conscious wondering whether others notice something like this, wondering what they must think. But you are absolutely right, none of those things really matter. Laugh it off, it’s not worth thinking twice about. It’s not about external appearances, and we’re all valued and loved just as we are. Beautifully said, Mimi πŸ™‚
