Grumpy the Gator

In Grumpy the Gator, a group of children playing encounter a grumpy alligator. The story teaches children to always keep a safe distance from animals in the wild, and to find an adult if they see an alligator.

Its Always A Story With The Hendersons

Peppermint Dust Giggles

A glorious Sunday morning in coastal South Carolina, filled with sunshine and cool temperatures. Waiting in the car while Alan closed the garage door so we could leave to go to church, I reached in my purse and found my small plastic bag of red and white peppermints. Just a small treat of peppermint would taste delicious. The soft ones are my favorites. The candy dissolves quickly while providing a nice mint taste. Also, great for when my stomach growls during church.

Only this time, the candy I pulled out of the bag was wrapped different. I opened the clear plastic wrapper and proceeded to put the mint to my lips. Right as the mint touched my mouth, the whole little treat broke apart into a burst of peppermint dust. Now, this would be fine except that I was wearing black pants and of course, the whole thing fell in my lap. Laughing, I stood up and began to try to wipe the dust. Not a good idea. The red and white peppermint dust spread all over my black pants, front and back. Part of the mint fell under my lap and when I moved out of the seat of the car, I smeared it on my clothing.

I could not stop laughing. Alan tried his best to help by “wiping” the back of me. What a sight that must have been!

By now, we were running behind and needed to get to church. Once we arrived at church, I asked Alan to check my backside.

“Well, it’s still there. I can see some of it.” He answered while standing in the church parking lot, once again trying to “clean” my pants. People drove their vehicles into the parking lot, parked and said “Good morning”. They probably had no idea what was happening. We continued to laugh.

Explaining the situation to a friend inside the building, she politely said, “Don’t worry. If anyone is looking that close at you, they need to step back.” Ha! Ha!

A silly situation caused us to have laughter and another funny story to share. God is great at giving us simple joys and many moments of laughter.

Have a blessed day and please be careful if you ever open those soft peppermints! You never know when the peppermint dust will find you and your pants.

Keep giggling and remember God loves you,
Mimi

If this were me and it caught me at the wrong time I’d have been in a complete flap about it, especially if I started panicking about being late to get somewhere. Being able to laugh at ourselves and inconveniences and brightly coloured sweet dust all over us is definitely the best way to deal with these sorts of things! Take it in your stride and with a smile on your face =]

I’m sure you smelled very nice! Once my friend had a headache while we were in church, so I gave him some of my peppermint essential oil to rub on his temples. But it was so dark I couldn’t see if the oil was dropping in his hands, and he ended up with a puddle of of it! And we peppermint scented our entire section! And tried not to giggle through the service!

This had me laughing and reminded me of a story my husband told me the other day. He drove through Dunkin Donuts on the job (he’s a police officer…of course lol) and ordered his usual. Only they gave him the wrong order and when he pulled the donut out, he said it was like an explosion of powdered sugar all over his cruiser, his uniform, his coat. He couldn’t get clean all day. I love how you chose to see this as a moment of joy instead of a moment of inconvenience. Life is all about that, isn’t it? Making the choice, in the moment, to find joy. Be careful with those peppermints!

Melissa, I love how you turned something that could have been irritating into something fun! I was reminded of when we had longhaired cats. A friend left our house, and on her way to the car I noticed the backside of her black pants was covered with white cat hair. I laughed so hard I couldn’t speak for a minute. I don’t think she thought it was as funny as I did. πŸ˜‰
