Grumpy the Gator

In Grumpy the Gator, a group of children playing encounter a grumpy alligator. The story teaches children to always keep a safe distance from animals in the wild, and to find an adult if they see an alligator.

Mama's Tissues

tissues-1000849_1280
An awful head cold has attached itself to me this week. I usually deal with sinus infections, however this time, just a plain old fashioned head cold. Congestion one minute, runny nose the next minute, ear ache and sore throat. No fun being sick.
Luckily, due to my love of coupons, there are boxes and boxes of tissues stacked up in the closet. Great deals can’t be passed on and head colds and stuffy/runny noses can happen at any time. Yes, I am that person who buys tissues while we are healthy.
As I have carried a box of tissues around the house all week, day and night, I remembered something very special. Amazing how something as simple as tissues can cause a fond memory.
Under the long sleeved shirt my Mama would wear, she delicately tucked two or three neatly folded tissues next to her soft wrists. She always had a tissue, just in case. I think about the last years of her life, sitting in a wheelchair, and laying the tissues on her lap. She folded them to have perfect creases and tucked them under her sleeve.
Is that the real reason  I buy so many tissues? Special memories of my Mama. She went to Heaven on February 5, 2013, one week before her 92nd birthday. Mama and Daddy gave me a wonderful, blessed life and I miss them both dearly.
A smile comes across my face every time I see a box of tissues and I think of Mama. Thank you God for special memories.
Blessings,
Mimi

Melissa, what a precious memory. I can remember others who would tuck a Kleenex or two in their shirt sleeves. I hope you’re feeling better.

Your post brought tears to my eyes as I remember my beloved Spanish grandmother and how she used to do the same as your mum only that she used pretty hankies.
Hope you are feeling better and thank you so much for visiting my blog.
    God Bless

Hope your on the mend. My spouse has terrible allergies and I use to buy the “good” tissue but he always leave wads in his pockets and it would ruin the wash. So, I switched to handkerchiefs they remind me of my grandpa and they do much better in the wash 🙂
