23 Dec It's Raining, It's Pouring…..and a donut
My goodness… the rain is pouring down like crazy here in VA. I am looking out of my window and the sky is dark, the wind is howling and the rain is so heavy that I can’t see far away. What is going on? Usually at this time of year, we have brr….freezing temperatures.
Thank goodness that the drivers out on the roads are slowing down….well, there is that one person who seems to want to speed through the rain. He may get his wish to fly if he doesn’t slow down and it won’t be pretty if he hydroplanes.
Maybe that person is on the way to the donut shop. Let me tell you… I never thought a donut shop could disappoint me. After church on Sunday, my husband and I decided to stop at the local donut shop for a treat for me. Just one little chocolate covered white cream filled donut. Nothing too special, just something I wanted. Alan went in the shop and came out empty handed. “What’s going on?”, I asked. Well, guess what? The donut shop ran out of cream for the donuts. How can that be? How can a donut shop not have cream for the donuts? After calming my donut craving self, I realized that I really didn’t need the extra calories anyway. 🙂
As our family is preparing for Christmas day, we have so many blessings and we are thankful to God for all those blessings. Yes, life is hard at times, with illnesses, deaths, uncertainties and more. Yet, our hope and strength will remain strong as we trust God.
This Christmas, pause and remember that you are loved and cherished by God. He loves us in all our seasons of life, even in the pouring rain and even when we complain about not getting the donut we wanted. He sends us the rain to renew and refresh us. Thank You, God, for all Your wondrous blessings and love.
I’ll try the donut shop again in a few days, because you never know what will happen because… “It’s always a story with the Henderson’s”
Merry Christmas everyone!
